Getting started:

The initial session will last for 50 minutes and we will explore what has brought you to see us, what you would like to achieve and agree a plan for how to proceed including session times, length, frequency and duration. For individual work we generally recommend starting with a weekly session for six weeks at which point if you are finding the sessions helpful we continue. For couples and family therapy we generally work in blocks of five sessions.

Our therapists are independent practitioners so whilst they ask us to organise and arrange pre-payment for the initial session your agreement for therapy will be direct with your therapist. In the first session with your therapist you will be able to agree how to pay them the fee for all future sessions.

Cancellations

Where ever possible we will try to reschedule an appointment if you are able to give at least 24 hours notice, the appointment will need to be rescheduled for a time within that seven day period. The fee for appointments that are missed or cancelled including where it has not been possible to reschedule is chargeable.

General & Legal

Sessions are confidential and we work within the UKCP and BACP's ethical frameworks, details of which are available on the relevant bodies websites. Whilst we keep your contact details we do not take session notes.

In accepting the offer of online or telephone therapy you accept that the service is governed by English Law irrespective of the country in which you are based.

If you are using private health insurance for examples companies including Bupa, AVIVA, WPA and PRUHealth they typically require you to obtain authorisation for treatment from your insurance company prior to starting. Your provider may require either a GP or Psychiatrists referral and in such cases we have colleagues with whom we can put you in contact. If your provider will be making payment directly please advise when making the first appointment and bring your authorisation details to the first session.
