Risk Taking Behaviour
This behaviour refers to the tendency to engage in activities that are dangerous or harmful. Whereas some people step back in front of a potentially dangerous situations others engage in it and take the chance to experience an outcome they perceive as positive.
Driving fast, having unprotected sex, substance misuse, having sex with strangers, gambling, taking risks when engaging in extreme sports, drinking and smoking are all activities that can have enormous consequences on the risk-takers but also on others. Those behaviours may bring positive or thrilling feelings in the moment but can be masking underlying concerns. In addition such behaviours can escalate so early intervention is always preferable.
