Elspeth is a Psychotherapist and an Art therapist with over twenty years experience. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). Elspeth offers both online and in-Person therapy in Kensington/Earl’s Court.
Clients come to Elspeth for psychotherapy and art therapy. Sometimes sessions are based mainly around artwork and other times dialogue, most often the therapy involves both dialogue and art. Elspeth can offer art therapy to her psychotherapy clients where appropriate and will agree together with her client the optimum way forward.
The focus is on the artwork as a means of communicating difficulties, rather than solely the difficulties themselves and she uses a psychodynamic model. It is important to know that the work in art therapy is not judged in any way on artistic competence or merit.
In addition to her private practice, Elspeth has extensive experience of working with adolescents in schools with a wide spectrum of needs and difficulties. Art therapy as a form of intervention can assist with an individual’s psychological, emotional, educational, social and physical development. She has worked with people from diverse backgrounds, including those who have come to the UK from areas of conflict. Elspeth’s work in recent years has also involved seeing those on the autistic spectrum, including young people with possible traits of autism who have not yet received a diagnosis and may be struggling with a range of emotions, particularly anxiety.
Elspeth did a MA in Art Psychotherapy at Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire and a Foundations of Analytical Psychology at the Society of Analytical Psychology, London.

It can also evoke other feeling states that are able to be explored within the safety of the sessions. It is a way of helping a person communicate their inner state, as well as release their feelings, and work through a process of self-healing over which they themselves have some control.”
