Dr Anastasios Toumpanakis is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Practitioner Psychologist, and a Chartered Member (CPsychol) of the British Psychological Society (BPS). He also works in private practice providing therapy to individuals with a wide range of difficulties. Dr Anastasios offers online and in-Person therapy in Chiswick, Clapham, Kensington/Earl's Court and Tunbridge Wells. He has several years of experience working with adults in a variety of different settings within the National Health Service, including inpatient and outpatient services, community mental health teams, crisis teams, and specialist psychotherapy services.
Dr Anastasios has been trained to carry out specialised assessments for diagnostic and/or clinical purposes and is highly skilled in critically evaluating the meaning and possible neuropsychological causes of individual behaviour. Specifically, he is experienced in carrying out assessments for personality disorders, learning disabilities, memory, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dysexecutive syndrome, visuospatial abilities, and risk of violence.
Dr Anastasios is currently the Lead Clinical Psychologist within an independent mental health rehabilitation hospital, where he leads the psychology pathway. He is responsible for the development of risk assessments, formulations, psychology treatment plans, as well as delivering therapy sessions and interventions to all service users. Dr Anastasios has experience of working with individuals who suffer from a wide range of complex and longstanding conditions, such as anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, alcohol/drug/gambling addiction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar affective disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and psychosis. He has also worked with people who have physical conditions (e.g., diabetes, chronic pain, obesity) comorbid with mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety).

Dr Anastasios integrates a number of therapeutic models within his work and takes into consideration all the different demographic and personal factors and he is highly aware of the need to adopt a tailored approach to each individual client. He is able to deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), commonly used to treat mood disorders, chronic pain management, and different type of addictions, among others. He also uses Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centred therapy. Dr Anastasios is a welcoming, kind and compassionate clinician who works in accordance with professional practice guidelines (HCPC and BPS). In addition, he is committed to Continuing Professional Development and keeping up to date with relevant research in psychological treatments.
Dr Anastasios’ aim is to assist individuals to meet their needs and support them through their journey of achieving their goals and reaching their full potential. He perceives therapy as a crucial element in the management of both mental and physical health. He believes that through therapy, individuals can develop their emotional awareness and growth, and subsequently live a more enriched life by improving their coping skills and managing their mental and/or physical health condition in a more beneficial way.
