Dysfunctional Patterns

The term "dysfunctional" refers to "abnormal or impaired functioning" on the part of an individual, between persons in any type of relationship, or between family members. Poor functioning is defined as behaviour or relationships that aren't working and have one or more negative, harmful elements, such as poor communication or frequent conflict. For instance, suppose a parent drinks on a daily basis and family members are hesitant to speak out about it. Your therapist will be able to work with you to understand better what is happening and together you will be able to find a way forward.
